A Mary Werst doily complete

This one took some time to complete due to the detail in the stitches.  I do believe all the effort was well worth it with seening the finished doily.  It's made with #10 Royale thread in Mint Green.  It's from the book Extra-Special Doilies published by Leisure Arts and is called "Exclusive".  The designer is Mary Werst.

Merry Christmas to every one!!

Close your eyes and think about the things you have been blessed with, in this life. You will realize that there are so many blessings, which make our life worthwhile. Also, don’t forget to count your blessings in the form of things which you can do, which perhaps many people cannot.

May each of you have the gladness of Christmas * which is hope;

The spirit of Christmas * which is peace;

The heart of Christmas * which is love.

A Christmas Doily

I've had this pattern in my "want to do" list for a couple of years.  Another Christmas always passed by and I never got it done.  WELL, 2010 was the year!  I'm really pleased at how it turned out.  May make another one sometime in 2011 for a "pair" !    The pattern is from the little magazine Hooked on Crochet published by The Needlecraft Shop and was issue #78 (November/December 1999)

The Star Doily in my blog "header"

There had been a couple of private questions about the star doily currently in the header of my blog.  It is called Christmas Tapestry and is from the House of White Birch series called Christmas Magic.  Here is a photo of the piece on their publication.  You can see what a difference another color combination makes!   I was real pleased on how it turned out when I made it in 2009.

Another one finished...

Well, the runner I was planning on making next was put on hold to finish a doily I had started some time back and laid aside in the WIP basket.  The doily is finished.  I would have liked it to be a "tad" larger.  It measures 19 inches across and was made with #10 thread.  I have a couple more WIP projects in various stages in the basket that are calling for completion.  With a new year fast approaching, I would love to start it off with all the WIPs completed!

One more project completed

The pineapple doily project is completed.  I made 3 doilies (see previous post for a picture of the book).  One was in #10 thread measuring about 22 inches, and two were in #20 thread measuring about 18 inches....On to another project....

Pineapple Doilies........

Well the 1st two pineapple doilies are completed from the Delightful Doilies book posted earlier.  I did the 1st one in #10 white thread and it came out to about 22 inches across.  The 2nd one was done in #20 thread and is somewhat smaller.  The 3rd one will also be in #20 thread.  These should look nice with the larger one in the center...and the smaller ones on each side.  Hope to post pics of these two later this week.  They are working up really fast.  It's an easy pattern to follow.....

Another PK doily off the "blocking board"

This one is called Cafe Latte and can be found in the Coffee N' Cream Doilies book (#3 on page 8), and is also in The Best of Patricia Kristoffersen (#8, page 24).  It's done in #10 white thread.

Pineapple Doilies

Yesterday I said I would try to post a picture of the book cover for the 3 pineapple doilies I'm now working on.  The book is called Delightful Doilies published by Leisure Arts.  I making the one on the back cover...bottom picture.  The 1st one is coming along really nicely....

Changing directions...

WELL, the runner has been put on hold until I finish an order for 3 pineapple doilies (about 17-18 inches across) and done with #10 thread in white.  I'll try to post a picture of the book cover from which I got the pattern this week.  Could not turn down the request from a 75 yr old aunt that can no longer crochet due to the condition of her hands.  They are to be used in her church.

Just crocheting along.....

I'm still working on the latest PK doily.  It will be in white, #10 thread.   I think I have about 10 rounds to go.

I've begun to plan my next project.   I think it will be another runner.   Many years ago I made this runner and gifted it to a really nice lady.  That was before digital cameras were really the thing (so no picture).  The runner is found in Magic Crochet issue #27.  I know some of you remember those wonderful thread books.

Blocking of doilies caught up

With the long weekend (Monday was a holiday for me), I was able to get all the blocking done on doilies that had been finished in the last couple of months.

The 1st one is another "PK" doily from the book Simply Delightful Doilies (Leisure Arts) and is "Doily #4" in the book.  As usual the unique stitches make this doily a "winner".

Here's a close up to better show the stitches....

This doily is called "Double Pineapple Doily" and is from the book Sparkling White Doilies (Star Book #91 by The American Thread Company-1952)  It was made with a #30 thread.

Here's a close up view of the doily.....

The final doily is called "Anastasia" and it's from the book A Dozen Doilies by Leisure Arts.  It was made with a vintage thread I had purchased off ebay some time ago.  The thread looks to be a #5.

A close up view for stitch detail..... I blocked the outside round differently than the picture showed..I liked the way this looked...

The blocking basket is now empty.  I have another "PK" doily in white on the hook right now....

Patricia Kristoffersen doilies

I have come to truly appreciate the fine detail found in PK (Patricia Kristoffersen) designs.  She truly is gifted!  Over the last year I have made several of her doilies which I will try to post over the next week or so.

This one is called Spellbinding" and is from the book Doilies With Charm published by Leasure Arts.

Another view....

Table runner finished...and delivered

The table runner has been finished and delivered to its new home.  Below are a couple pictures of it on the table it was made for.  It looked really pretty....and was just the "right size".  She really loved it!!   Now back to making doilies for a while.

Continuing on the table runner

Well, of the 3 motifs I have to add (will require 2 connecting motifs) I have one and one-half done.  The goal is to get this done this weekend!  More doilies are calling....  I already have a Patricia Kristoffersen pattern choosen from one of my books.  Can't wait to get started!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!  We are enjoying some cooler weather here.  Mid 80s days and mid 60s nights.  It's really nice.

Current project - Table Runner

Laid out the table runner that I'm working on last night and decided I need one more row of 3 motifs.  I'm working on them right now.  Then, I'll block and try it out on the table it's intended for.  Will take pictures of it at its new home to post later this week/first of next week.   It's really pretty, but I truly had trouble getting into "crocheting" it, if you know what I mean.  Normally when I crochet a doily I really, really enjoy it!  The runner has become a chore to finish.

Rainy Monday

No work to post today although I do have one doily blocked and ready for a picture.  Hopefully soon.
Had rain most of the night and woke up to rain today.  We really need it!  I don't think we have had a shower in over four weeks.  It was a nice welcome!

I've been working on a dining table runner for a friend at church.  I've taken an old tablecloth pattern called "lucky star", and adapted it to a runner.  The runner is 3 motifs wide.   I think I'm almost finished with it.  Here's a picture of the tablecloth for those interested.

Crochet....Crochet

I have decided to try this "blogger" thing.   Thread crochet is my passion.  I have spent many, many years collecting patterns and books!  I can always find one more pattern to make.  Most of my creations have been given away to dear friends and family over the years.  During the past year I have made 2 round tablecloths for a dear...dear friend.  Below are pics of them.  Hope everyone enjoys looking.  Both are Elizabeth Hiddleson patterns.  EH did such beautiful design work during her lifetime!  I think I have ALL of her books!  Hope to have more posts in the days ahead!~

The first one is from Elizabeth Hiddleson's book #14 and is called "For the Bride".  The 2nd one is from her book #40.  Both were done with #10 thread and a #8 hook.
