Pineapple Garden

This oblong one has been on my "to do list" for quite some time.  I have always loved the center of it.  I was able to finally finish it in December.  I love the way it turned out.  It was made with #20 white thread. The finished size is approximatley 12" x 20".  The pattern comes from one of the Leisure Arts "little books" called Pineapple Doilies published in the 1999.

  1. Gorgeous. I would love to know whether/how you starch your thread work.

  2. Michelle...I simply block the piece on a poster board (the kind with styrofoam in the center that I've covered with plastic/vinyl wrap to get a longer life out of it) and give it a good spray with spray starch that I buy at Walmart. Some times I give it a second spray after it's dried the first time. I don't like my pieces to be "stiff as a board", but definitely want enough starch that they will hold their shape.
