A nice surprise.....

Haven't checked the "blogging" world for a couple of days as I've been enjoying time off from work and crocheting.  Got a nice surprise this morning when logging in and seeing that Toni  over at Toni's Favorite Things had awarded me the Liebster Award.  Thank you Toni for your kind words about my love of crochet!

According to Toni (and she's passing the information along) Liebster in German means 'favorite', and is a way for fellow bloggers to spotlight blogs that they follow.  As part of the Liebster tradition it is passed along to 5 bloggers that have inspired and motivated you.  To accept the award you must:

1.  Link back to the person who gave you the award and thank them.
2.  Post the award on your blog.
3.  Give the award to 5 bloggers with less than 200 followers that you appreciate.
4.  Leave a comment on the 5 blogs letting them know they have been offered the award.
5.  Share 5 random facts about yourself that others may not know.

Requirements #1 and #2 - completed.
Requirement #3 - that will take some thinking about.

1.  Debi over at Dly's Hooks and Yarns always has such a colorful blog with all her yarn.  Although I very seldom work with anything other than thread, I do love the afghans, etc. that she creates with all the different colors.  I have to say her followers are over 200, but I do enjoy her blog.

2.  Fiona at Handmade by Fiona always keeps me dreaming with her lovely photographs of places I will never be able to visit.  They are an added bonus to her 'crafting' posts.

3.  Rachel at The Life of Riley always has some beautiful quilting items.  It's been years since I've done any quilting, but I do so enjoy her blog.  This may be my inspiration to do a project.

4.  Natalie at Outstanding Crochet is originally from Russia and her crochet items always interest me, with some nature photographs thrown in.  I always read Natalie's blogs.

5.  Vikki over at By Hooks 4U is a gifted crochet thread person.  I so enjoy admiring her creations.

Requirement #4 - will be completed as soon as I've posted this entry.

Requirement #5 -
1.  I still work full time, but always make time every evening for some thread crochet.  In case you haven't noticed, it's an addiction with me!
2.  I have an extensive collection of doily patterns, probably numbering in excess of 25,000!
3.  I have a dear friend, named Linda also, that has about 80 of my doilies and 2 tableclothes.  Linda doesn't crochet but truly loves it!  Her home has become a 'museum' of my work!
4.  In addition to thread crochet, I also do hardhanger embroidery, quilting, cross stitch ,, just to name a couple.  BUT thread crochet is  my love!
5.  Most of my completed projects are given way to friends.  I have very few pieces that I have made.

Thank you Toni for the award and thank you to all my followers who regularly visit my blog and view my work.

Luck of the Irish Doily

Started this doily over the weekend and I don't know what's going on....BUT I've done nothing but "frog it" and more "frogging".  I guess I've worked with charts so much lately that my brain is not connecting with written instructions.  Took out 7 rows again last evening and starting them over tonight.  I really must pay attention to the "written word" and get it right this time!!  This was to my last St. Patricks theme this year....

New doilies...

Was able to get photos of my latest pieces, although I'm not a great photographer. These two little doilies come from a foreign publication that I found on the web.  They were made with #10 thread and measure 13 inches across....a nice size.  I thought the pattern lended itself well to multi colors...and green and white were my colors of choice for March.

This doily is called "Pineapple Plus" and comes from Crochet World magazine, the February 2012 issue.  It was made with #10 thread and measures 18 1/2 inches across

The final doily is actually a tabletopper since it measures 24 1/2 inches across and is made with #10 thread.  The pattern is called "Romantic Pineapples" and is a free pattern that can be found here.  If you don't particularly like making the popcorn stitch, don't start this project.  It has a total of 645 popcorn stitches in the pattern.  I now consider myself an "expert" of this stitch!

Check out my "to do list" down the right side of my blog.  This is a listing of what I'm currently working on...with the next 3-4 projects that I have waiting to be started.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Sunshine this weekend!

Glad to see the weatherman is forecasting clear weather this weekend for our area.  I have one doily done with shamrocks (St. Patrick's Day), a set of two done in green and white, and a large (I mean large..26 inches across) tabletopper done in white that needs photographs and posting.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Check out my new "to do" list down the right side!  I can now list my upcoming projects....removing an item when completed......adding new items as I  find new "pretties to make.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
