I have been working on a vintage Calla Lily doily and I'm just not happy with the way it is turning out. It just leaves something to be desired in the doily pattern. So, for a break I decided to try a new filet piece. It's been a few years since I've done any filet. I'm using #20 Lizbeth in white with a #12 hook. I'm currently about 1/3 finished. Here's a picture of the finished doily from the Ondori book it comes from. I had been "eyeing" the pattern for some time.

ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I can see why you have eye balling that doily, it is beautiful!! That Christmas doily ...well I got the pattern from Maggie Weldon years back, but I didn't like her holly leaves so I made my own and added beads instead of buttons..I don't know if you can still get the pattern or not. Hey I have a question..do you like the Lizbeth thread? I tried it a couple of times and have been disappointed. Maybe I have just gotten bad balls?
ReplyDeleteStunning...

Wow, that's pretty big...and it's beautiful. I haven't done any filet with thread. Can't wait to see yours finished.
ReplyDeleteVikki..I've been using Lizbeth #20 for several years and really like it...
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful piece! I've never tried filet crochet...I've only worked with size 10 for doilies. I just made a lavender doily...it's posted on my blog if you'd like to see. Gorgeous work here!
ReplyDeleteLove that pattern, so pretty. Looking forward to seeing your finish. :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely pattern :) Hugs!
