Promises to Keep doily
Just took this one off the blocking board.
Promises to Keep by Elizabeth Hiddleson made with Aunt Lydia's #30 thread using a #12 hook. It measures 14 inches. The pattern can be found in Decorative Crochet issue 17.
Christmas is almost here and I haven't made anything in red-white-green! This is the first year in a long time I haven't done at least one thing. Will have to do better next year.
I am currently working on a Nativity Doily in white, but don't know if it will be done by Christmas. Will keep you posted.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a blessed Sunday!

A pretty doily with pineapples
This pattern was found somewhere along the way on Pinterest. I really loved it, but with 45 rows I knew I didn't want it to be large, which it would be with size 10 or 20 thread. I decided I would try my hand with LizBeth size 80 thread, and my Lacis .50mm hook. The doily ended up being 16 inches, which is a nice size for me. It is so light and delicate in the smaller thread. (I may try another large table topper pattern I have my eye on next year with this size thread)

Vintage Doily Design 767
This pattern is simply called Design 767. It was made with Coats & Clark Big Ball size 30 in ecru using a #10 hook. The finished doily measures 18.5 inches. It required frogging several times in order to complete it. There were a lot of dtr, tr, trtr stitches and required a lot of attention. The pattern directions referred to the cluster stitches as "petals".
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having a great day!

A new look!
Fall is behind us and we are moving forward to Christmas and some true winter weather here in South Georgia. Time to give the blog a seasonal change. Didn't want something too heavy, but still a winter like feel.
Hope I have accomplished that!

Pineapple Bloom doily
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! Sorry, but I was really lazy in posting a Thanksgiving wish up front. No excuse except laziness! This year our wedding anniversary fell on Thanksgiving day....46 years.
This doily is called Pineapple Bloom and was designed by Patricia Kristoffersen. It can be found in the publication Absolutely Gorgeous Doilies. It was made with #20 thread using a #10 hook and measures 16 inches.
I did change the last round to a simple round of single crochet stitches with picots, which I like much better.

Blooming Pineapple Doily
This pattern can be found in a couple of foreign magazines called Moje Robotki, 12/2009 issue, and Sabrina Robótki, 6/2005 issue. I've made it twice before. The second one I made in April of this year didn't block correctly. I couldn't figure out why, since the one I had originally made in July 2011 blocked perfectly. When I started this one (which was a special request), I realized double crochet stitches changed to triple crochet stitches at a certain point. I didn't pick up on this with the 2nd doily I made, thus my problem.
This one was made with #20 thread using a #12 hook and measures 18 inches.

Vintage Pineapple Doily
This doily really doesn't have an appropriate name in the vintage publication it came from, so I call it "Vintage Pineapple Doily". It was made with LizBeth #20 thread using a #10 hook and measures 18 inches across. It was a special request in white. I had made this one several years ago in color.
Thanks for stopping by, and if you have not done so and are qualified to vote in the USA, be sure you do so TODAY!!

Between Meals Centerpiece
A very lovely vintage pattern called "Between Meals Centerpiece". Made with Clarks Big Ball vintage thread in the color ecru and size 30. Finished piece measures 20 inches.
The pattern was published in Corticelli Lessons in Crochet, Book No. 5 in 1919 and Old Time Crochet Magazine, Autumn 1977. The pattern can be found HERE although there are a few corrections that have to be made. I really enjoyed making this one in size 30 thread.

Then a picture showing all together, including #2 which measures 17.5 x 11.5 inches. The source of the pattern is in my most recent post.

Tray for Three runner
This is the first of 3 small runners that I'm working on for a friend. The pattern is No. 7149 "Tray for Three" from the vintage book "New Ideas in Crochet, Table Topics", and can be found HERE.
I used the vintage thread pictured in size 30 and #61-ecru. The border is a separate pattern that I found somewhere else. Each motif is 1.5 inches. The runner measures 22.5 by 13.5 after blocking.

Changes made
Fall is in the air! That being said, it was time for a change to the theme of the blog. I've added fall doilies to my header and leaves in the background! Not sure if I like it, but it will stay this way for a while. Will need to update it before Christmas comes!
Have a nice weekend and God bless!

A new runner
We can finally feel some fall in the air. Although the temps are still in the upper 80s low 90s, there is a "coolness" that you can feel when the wind blows. We are really looking for some cooler fall weather! In the meantime, watching the tropical depression entering the Gulf of Mexico and what will happen.
This runner was made as a gift. The motif was found on Pinterest some time ago. I had previously made a smaller runner for a friend using this motif, and when the opportunity came up to make a birthday gift, I immediately thought of this pattern. It was made with Red Heart #20 white thread using a #11 hook. It took approximately 1,800 yards (4+ balls) of thread. There are 19 rows of 4 motifs each. Started July 7, 2016, and finished July 26, 2016. It's 6 feet long and will look lovely gracing her dining room table. Hopefully I will get pictures and be able to post later.

Another doily from Sabrina Tous de Ouvrages, issue 81, made with Artiste #10 thread in the colors grass and porcelain using a #1.00 Clover hook.

I think it looks so much better in color than how it looks in the magazine. What do you think? You could change the color on the outer round to red and have a Christmas doily!
