Rose Scallop doily

For lack of a better name, this one is being called Rose Scallop Doily.  It's the last one completed before starting the baby blanket and is from a foreign publication.  It's made with #30 thread and a #13 hook.  The doily measures 20-21 inches across....but I do block rather tightly.

I really love this one. HOW do you get your thread projects so nice and flat?? Do you starch them?

Michelle, I block them on a styroboard using pins(it looks like poster board with styrofoam in the center). I spray with a spray starch and let dry. On occasion I will spray a 2nd time and dry again.

Magnificent! It must be so delicate with the 30 thread. My fingers couldn't handle thread or hook that small. Your crochet talent is incredible. What an heirloom.

Totally beautiful work...... I am rather envious of your talent.. I can't handle that thin thread so it's great to see a piece of work like this :))

OMG Linda,

Your Rose Scallop is absolutely stunning!!!!!! I need to get off this potholder kick and back into doilies. Haven't made one in 2 months. Just wish there were more hours in a day. Pam

I have never done this kind of work with a needle and thread. But I remember playing with the ones my great grand mother, and great aunts use to make. I'd use them for my little dolls as; dresses and capes. I do crochet quite a bit; but my hands are so big I'm having a real hard time getting this thin thread to work for me. I Love what you have done. Your works have taken me back in time; to the 1950's when things were good with the world. Thank You. If you have any tips that will help me out please send them my way.
